Smoked hardwood planks in a diagonal layout in Marina del Rey

The hardwood we carry for buildings.

Engineered wood together with the rated underlayments that let it be approved.

Engineered boards are real wood over a cross-layered core, which holds its shape as the air around it changes, and they go over a slab bonded or floated. We stock them in strip through wide plank in oak, walnut, and hickory, with wear layers thick enough to be sanded later, and we supply the acoustic underlayment as part of the same order so the floor and what sits under it are specified as one assembly.

Samples of any of it ship free, and large sample boards come up to the unit with the in-home visit.

Approved hardwood flooring installation in Marina del Rey condos.

We handle the approval paperwork alongside the floor.

Buildings here set a minimum sound rating, and the rating belongs to the whole assembly rather than to the board, so it depends on the underlayment beneath the floor and the structure below that. Send us your building’s requirement and we build the assembly to it and give you the product and underlayment documentation to submit with your application. Tell us the building’s work hours, elevator, and access rules at the consultation and the job gets planned around them.

Refinishing, repair, and recoating.

All three, on a floor already in the unit.

Sanding takes a floor to bare wood and rebuilds the finish, which clears scratches and worn traffic paths. Screening and recoating refreshes a worn finish without going to bare wood, and individual boards can be replaced and stain matched. On engineered floors the wear layer sets how much sanding is available, and we read it at the consultation.

Hardwood stairs, nosings, treads, and risers.

Treads, risers, and nosings for the townhomes and the two-level units.

We install hardwood nosings, treads, and risers, cut to match the floor in species, stain, and sheen so the two read as one surface, or contrasted where the stair should stand on its own. Carpeted stairs can be converted to wood, and stairs are measured on the same visit as the floors. More on our stair work.

Samples up to the unit.

Reflected light off the water reads warmer than a photograph does.

So the board is worth seeing where the floor is going. Small samples ship to your door free, and large sample boards come up to the unit with the in-home visit, several at a time, and stay with you. The same visit covers the rooms, the transitions, and the thresholds at the entry, and a written estimate follows.

Questions from Marina del Rey homeowners

What we get asked most before a job here.

My building requires a sound rating. Can you meet it?

Yes. Send us the requirement and we build the assembly to it, then give you the product and underlayment documentation to submit with your application.

Do you supply the underlayment as well as the wood?

Yes. The wood, the underlayment, and the installation come from us on one order, which is what lets the assembly be documented as a whole.

Can I install solid hardwood in my unit?

Over an occupied unit, usually not, because solid hardwood is nailed to a wood subfloor and does little to stop impact noise. The answer there is engineered wood over an acoustic underlayment.

Can you work around building hours and elevator rules?

Yes, and it is easier when we know them up front. Tell us what your building requires at the consultation and the work gets planned around it.

Do you bring samples up to the unit?

Yes. Small samples ship to your door at no cost, and large boards come up with the in-home visit and stay with you.

Approved, then installed.
