For condos and townhomes we stock engineered floors together with rated underlayments, so the floor and what goes under it are specified as one assembly.

Installation

If your home sits inside an association, we handle the paperwork side as well as the floor.
Associations here usually set a minimum sound rating, and the rating belongs to the whole assembly rather than to the board, so it depends on the underlayment beneath the floor and the structure below that. Send us your association’s requirement and we build the assembly to it and hand you the product and underlayment documentation to submit for approval. In a detached home over a wood subfloor, a nail-down floor is on the table too.

Sanding to bare wood and rebuilding the finish clears scratches, worn paths, and old carpet marks. Screening and recoating refreshes a worn finish without going to bare wood. Individual boards can be replaced and stain matched, and loose boards and squeaks refastened. How much sanding a floor has left is read at a vent or a threshold at the consultation.

Samples brought to the house, or shipped to your door.
Small samples ship free, and large boards come to you.
Large sample boards come out with the in-home visit, several at a time, and stay with you long enough to be seen in morning light and again in the evening. The showroom has the range in person, one exit east.
The same visit covers every room, the transitions and casings, and the stairs if they are in scope. A written estimate follows, covering the wood, the work, removal of the old floor, underlayment, transitions, and trim.

Do you supply the flooring as well as install it?
Both, and the written estimate lists the wood and the work as separate lines.
Can I put solid hardwood in a townhome?
Over an occupied unit, usually not, because solid hardwood is nailed to a wood subfloor and does little to stop impact noise. The answer there is engineered wood over an acoustic underlayment.
Can hardwood go over my slab?
Engineered hardwood can, glued down or floated. Solid hardwood cannot.
Do you install hardwood stairs?
Yes. We install hardwood nosings, treads, and risers, cut to match the floor, and they are measured on the same visit as the floors.
